CERMOSEM is a branch of the University of Grenoble Alps (UGA), attached to the Alpine Town Planning and Geography Institute and to the PACTE research laboratory.
It opened its doors in 1994 as part of a partnership between the Ardèche Departmental Council, the Aubenas EPLEFPA (Ministry of Agriculture), the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, the Regional Education Authority (Rectorat) of Grenoble Academy, and the university. CERMOSEM is developing activities that are highly adapted to the characteristics and demands of the southern Rhône-Alps territories.
The activities of the site are organized around three main functions : training, research and scientific animation.
CERMOSEM is a training and research platform focused on territorial development. It is located in a rural environment, in the Ardèche department, on the Olivier de Serres Au Pradel agricultural estate in the Municipality of Mirabel.
Each year it welcomes and trains new students from all background in land use planning and territorial development. The main themes are territorial dynamics, tourism, recreational practices, environment and heritage management.
Many symposia and seminars are organized on the site. It is a place for debate and exchange between researchers and stakeholders in territorial development.
